Tree Care for Late Winter / Early Spring Before new leaves emerge and spring growth begins, we still have time to perform some important services. Without leaves, the entire tree structure presents itself for inspection. Often, small but significant problems become evident. Some of these are split or cracked branches or crotches, crossed or rubbing branches, or even branches that are becoming too long or heavy. We have time for much remedial tree care at reduced costs due to this increased visibility. Winter is a “resting” or dormant period for trees and shrubs; “energy” from the leaves, is stored in the trunks and roots as starches and sugars. We can take advantage of this phenomenon and reduce the size of shrubs and ornamental trees without causing them any undue stress. The plants energy reserves will not be lost in this process as it would be in the summer. Instead, spring will allow for new growth, good flowering, and healthy, well-shaped plants! Winter is a great time for tree removal. Some trees outgrow their space or cause problems with light, views, or other more desirable plants. Without the leaves and with hard ground, the removal process takes less time, costing you less! Many Insect and disease problems begin with early spring. An inspection and tree / shrub inventory now will allow us to propose recommendations for controlling any likely problems for this coming growing period. Keep in mind that our philosophy has always been “Use the least toxic materials, in the least possible dose, to control specific problems”! Proper timing is critical for this to work. Waiting until problems become evident can affect how we can offer good control. I would encourage you to visit our web site, www.pauleytreecare.com, to learn more about us. We love what we do and we do it year round. Call us, if for no other reason than a good inspection of your valuable trees and shrubs. I am sure you will not be disappointed!
